A wooden shabti figure of King Seti 1 (c1294-1279 BC), with original tar preservant and particularly fine face.
19th Dynasty.
Height 23cm.
With old inscription under stand “Tomb of Seti1 Belzoni”.
After his 1817 discovery of the tomb of Seti1, Giovanni Belzoni gave an account of its contents.
He described “scattered in various places, an immense quantity of small wooden figures of mummies six or eight inches long, and covered with asphaltum to preserve them”.
The alabaster sarcophagus of Seti1 is in the Soane Museum, London.

A nice quality Tasmanian Colonial period cedar chiffoniere, for the storing of books and small objects. With finely moulded gallery, back and turned columns to the shelf and crossbanding to the front face edge. With a shaped drawer to the frieze and paid of panelled cupboard doors on the original finely turned feet. Excellent original colour and patina.
