An attractive Lancashire oak blanket or mule chest with a wonderful colour & patina. The hinged rectangular top with mahogany crossbanding opening on the original forged iron kyte hinges. The front with finely shaped shield panels, with crossbanded birders and faded to a beautiful honey colour. Over three drawers with original cast brass metalwork, the base with scalloped edge and reeded quadrant corners, typical of Lancashire furniture. It is rare to find this degree of colour, originality & vernacular decoration on a chest of this form. U.K origin c1760
