A Regency “Egyptian” Clock
A superb English Regency period mahogany cased twin fusee bracket clock in Greco – Egyptian – Gothick revival case. The substantial 8 day repeating movement signed to the dial and back-plate by the maker, James French – an Irish born clock maker of London. The ormolu and brass mounted case by Royal Cabinet Makers, Banting and France. The mercury silvered mirror is original further conveying the exotic mystery of the object. UK c. 1820 Ht 51cm.
