A Tasmanian Colonial period monkey tail scrolled arm cedar chaise. With curved banded end, supported on bulbous tapered and facetted legs the hallmark of Gillingtons of Dublin. An 1840s interpretation of Greek revival, via an Irish Colonial cabinet maker . Dry original finish, strong & unrestored though missing its casters.
[thankyou to Graham Hickey, Director Dublin Civic Trust, for identifying the Irish design origin].
