D Brucciani was the leading 19th century plaster modeller in London, supplying casts after the antique, and new artist’s work to the Victorian & Albert Museum, British Museum et al.
Signed examples of Brucciani’s work are rare & highly collectible. Though missing, this has not been restored, and is an exciting example of the artist’s work. The hollow eyes representing original Greek bronzes, where the original ivory eyes were lost, giving a haunting & archaeological appearance. The iron wires internal strengthening. With cast number & signature verso.
