The niche with recumbent guardian lions above a stepped stupa shaped aperture,
which is flanked by pineapple topped columns. An architectural fragment. Sinhalese architecture of the Kingdom of Kandy (1469- 1815) shows many of the ancient Buddhist forms of Northern India, introduced to Ceylon in the 3rd
century BCE, with more than 25 styles of
Buddhist Monasteries.
