A fine & scarce English made mahogany campaign chest of drawers, made in two parts with brass bindings & iron carrying handles, for travel. Terrific colour, iron locating pins & original threaded feet, removeable for travel. The whole of nice compact size. With the original card delivery / retailer’s label for Isaac Allen, upholsterer of 15 Gt Norwood St Cheltenham. A three ring engraved Irish decanter, with finely cut body and original stoper, circa 1800. Whiskey Firing Glass c1765
These glasses were used for toasting and held a dram of whisky (a quarter of a gill). All that extra metal in the foot supposedly allowed one to slam the glass on a hard surface at the end of the toast to make a sound like a rifle shot, a practice we in no way endorse. This presents a wonderful opportunity to while away an evening 1760, style. Ht 93mm.
