A rare Tasmanian early Colonial period cedar chest of five drawers, of elegant vernacular form. The drawers cockbeaded & lined in Huon pine. The unusual turned tall feet, with triple reed tops & ball ends suggest the work of one a very small group of Irish cabinet makers, either free or convict

The footrest with scrolled volute taken from the modillion of the Corinthian order, with central paterae & scrolling honeksuckle. With crisp egg & dart turned frieze to four sides, supported on anthemions to the corners. Untouched original state. UK c 1815.
