SET OF EIGHT GEORGE III ‘Roman’ dining chairs. London, c. 1810. 1 x later Mahogany. To a design published by Thomas Sheraton in 1806, the manufacture probably by Holland and Sons, London. The fashion for cross back chairs after the Roman was first revived by George Jacob of Paris c. 1799.
Of unusually large size and with finely undercut reliefs after Lady Templeton. Perfect. Some firing imprefections to shaft. Height 255mm
