Charles II Oak Joynt Stool c 1680

A late 17th century oak ‘joynt’ stool, joined in splayed form for strength with mortise & tenons by an arkwright / joynter – a timber worker able to make timber joins & the precursor to a cabinet-maker.  Well turned baluster legs & well formed seat rails. The top replaced as is usual with stools of this age.  Excellent patina. UK c1680.
