A beautifully drawn English George III period best mahogany escritoire -bookcase. With fine Gothic lancet glazing, crossbanding to doors, original interior and ‘French’ swept bracket feet. Similar to designs published by Thomas Shearer c 1790 for bookcases in the French taste.
This item previously sold by Mrs E Stuart (grandmother of present owner of this business) of The Pines Antiques & exhibited Antique Dealers Association Fair 1970.
