Pair of Matthew Boulton Athienne Candelabrum c 1790

A rare pair of George III period old Sheffield plate candelabrum by the leading Birmingham industrialist /artist Matthew Boulton, in the form of neo classical athienne altars, with inset lion mask panels. In the early days of Boulton’s manufacturing he employed the leading artists of the day, including the architect Robert Adam, who is likely the author of this pattern. The borders lightly rose & excellent condition.
