A finely carved English Victorian period bust of Joseph Hawley, 3rd Baronet (1813-1875). Born in Harley St, London, the eldest of ten children, to become a leading Victorian age horse breeder. Four of his horses won The Derby.
Edward Davis (1813-1878) was an important 19th century sculptor, having trained at the Royal Academy Schools. He exhibited over 100 works at the Royal Academy from 1834 -1877, his work was displayed at the Great Exhibition of All Nations in 1851. His works are in the National Portrait Gallery, Burlington House, Royal Society & Westminster Abbey.
