Regency Convex Mirror c 1820

Regency Convex Mirror c 1820

A rare (and exciting!) English Regency period convex mirror, mounted with a dragon to the crest supported by a pair of recumbant lions. Acanthus leaf carved scrolls to the sides & base, centred by a sunflower. Original gilding, ebonized reeded slip & mercury silvered mirror. In nice old aged state.  Regency circular convex mirrors were one of the idiosyncratic items of that age. Examples mounted with a dragon & lions, in original condition are very rare, adding to the exotic taste & mystical quality of the mirror.
