Boxwood Crucifix Flemish c1680
A late Baroque domestic crucifix, the body of Christ in boxwood, on a cross of ebony inlaid with ivory lines. The base of ogee Gothic form, veneered with red tortoiseshell and ripple moulded ebony. The body of Christ sensitively carved, with a fine patina. Examples of this age are rare. 57cm H x 19cm L x 10cm W.
Large Regency period Convex Mirror c1820
A rare English Regency period convex mirror of large size & in good original condition,
With original gilding & mercury silvered plate, no evidence of ever being fitted with candle arms. The carved elements original to the frame, with richly carved acanthus, topped by an Eagle in flight, pairs of anthemions and a deep moulded frame with inset reeded ebony slip & the mirror in excellent antique condition. Tibetan Silk Vevet Saddlecloth c1750
A rare 18th century Tibetan silk velvet saddle cloth. Woven in orange saffron silk with auspicious symbols of Dharma, the flame of Buddha’s teachings and the colour used by monks for their robes to symbolize purity. The quality of the weave would suggest a Buddhist High Monk or Lama, as the original owner. The reverse in faded blue cotton with tying straps. 79cm x 64cm C1750 -1800.
