,a wonderfully evocative two part Anglo-Indian narrawood & Chinese elm secretaire – campaign chest of drawers for military use or exotic travel, of good smallish size. Made in an Indian run workshop for the UK / European market of Straits Chinese timbers. The original feet unscrew, the top drawer fitted as a writing desk, with original wool felt, key to inner door, & nice old paperwork / ephemera inside c1860.

An English made brass bound mahogany two part military or campaign chest of small proportions. With good original patina, iron carrying handles and removeable feet,  of excellent size and proportions.  About as original an example as could survive & rare in this virtually untouched condition. The drawers have dust liners between & are finely dovetailed, the edges scribed with a bead for strength. It is a well made piece of furniture. 102cm H x 101cm.W x 48cm D.  UK origin c 1830.
